Organize a Home-Based Care Alliance in your Community

DSC_1055

If you are a home-based caregiver, and you are facing challenges in seeking recognition and resources, it is time to organize! Grassroots home-based caregivers have successfully used the steps described below to develop a Home-Based Care Alliance in their communities, districts and countries.

Even though the steps are numbered 1-8, this organizing is not necessarily and linear process where you complete step one, then move on to step two, then three, etc. You will find that you may complete step 8, and then need to go back to step two and conduct further orientation, and that you may need to continuously do mapping and mobilization to ensure that you are meeting new caregivers who may arise or move into your community.

However, it is absolutely necessary that you start with step 1, mapping and mobilization and that you do step 1 well. That is – grassroots home-based caregivers themselves have got to undertake this step if the Alliance is going to be a success.
